Man repeatedly fake proposes at Disney World knowing his wife hates attention

Getting engaged to the love of your life is a milestone moment that people never forget.

So when a man got down on one knee at Disney World to seemingly ask his partner if she will marry him, the romantic moment was sure to gather a bit of attention in the packed out theme park before the pandemic.

The man picked a wooden bridge over one of the park’s lakes to pop the big question – but the only problem was the pair were already engaged, and he was simply doing it to embarrass his soon-to-be wife in the knowledge that she “hates a scene”.

After she walks away from the situation mortified, he then repeats it in front of the iconic castle at night, in a huge queue for one of the rides, in a packed restaurant after tapping his glass for attention, and other spots around the resort while saying phrases like “Kelly, I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.”

She slowly gets more and more frustrated at his efforts and quickly learns the trigger to flee, while a friend captures every mortifying moment on camera.

The clips were uploaded to TikTok by @Kelly_kirb, as she wrote: “My husband fake proposed to me all over Disney World because he knows I hate a scene.”

She added: “We were already engaged so he knew he could get away with this. We go back in June, wish me luck.”

The video has been viewed more than 4.4 million times and it left viewers in stitches as one said: “Imagine the people around thinking she doesn’t want to marry him lol.”

A second wrote: “When he started doing it in line where you couldn’t run away.”

A third commented: “When he started clinking the glass to get more attention I can’t.”

And another added: “The giggling friend doing the recording has it for me.”

When she was asked how he had really proposed before their trip, Kelly explained: “He proposed in our house with just us and the dog! Exactly what I would have wanted. This was all for his amusement.”
